go online to www.cerrocoso.edu/coyoteconnection.
If you haven't registered as a student before, click the
Admission/Update button.
For further information or a class outline contact John
Wilson at 872-8234 or send an e-mail to www.aperture395@aol.com.
To register call 760-872-1565 or 934-2875. If you prefer just drop by either campus and register between
10 AM and 6 PM from Monday thru Thursday or Friday from 10 AM until noon. Register as soon as possible as some of the workshops look like they will fill early.
Note: The cost for each workshop is $20.00 each -- so splurge and join me this summer for a great weekend or two. The workshops are a sort of "rights of passage" for photographers requiring early risings and long days, but the comradeship of a group of photographers is something special and all emerge better photographers and friends from the experience.
Itineraries for each workshop will be available at the first meeting. Hours will vary depending on class objectives ( the night photography workshop will only have one dawn shooting), season, and shoot locations.

| Since we saw no rain in January we'll probably see few flowers in May (but we'll continue to pray). All is not lost as the Bristlecone Forest (if we don't have a late winter), the Eureka Sand Dunes, and the Alabama Hills below Mt. Whitney will serve as good alternative field trip locations. If there is good "color" Division Creek and the Iris fields will be included. Emphasis will be on perfecting our macro/flash/reflector
techniques and getting some great photographs. |

| Emphasis will be placed on night photography -- such techniques as "painting" with light, photographing moonscapes, and fill flash at night along with a full moon rise and set possibility. There will be some daylight photography also, perhaps in the Bristlecones, a great place to photograph and a great place for a moonrise, and the Alabama Hills is a possibility for a moon set. The workshop will provide an opportunity to create many unusual images. |

| Exploring Mono Lake, Tioga Pass, McGee Creek, and Rock Creek will be the focus of this workshop.
Hopefully there will be mountain flowers. Workshop will include techniques for getting the most out of split neutral and other creative filters, using reflectors/diffusers to build a field studio, techniques for improving exposure by using the "zone system" to expand tonal range, and other digital and traditional exposure techniques. 1 credit. |

| Emphasis of this workshop will be making B&W photographs utilizing the digital camera and Adobe Photoshop. Students will learn how to convert their color images into stunning black and white images. The art of "seeing" in black and white and on recognizing the compositional elements that make black and white photography so dramatic will be covered during the workshop. The workshop will include working in the college's computer lab utilizing Photoshop to convert color images into B&W. |

| This year we will focus on McGee Creek, June Lake, Tioga Pass, and Virginia and Lundy Lakes. Emphasis will be on maximizing color -- using warming, enhancing, and polarizing filters, how to expose correctly for backlighting, and multiple exposure and slow shutter speeds to explore the impressionistic effects that can be achieved using these techniques. |
| |
|
Equipment & Supplies |
| Students
will need an adjustable camera, film or digital, that
allows manually setting the shutter, aperture, and focus.
Those students shooting film will need a minimum of four
rolls of 36 exposure (E-6) slide film. A tripod is also
required and a polarizing filter highly recommended. Those
students taking phase II will require a split neutral
density filter, and those taking phase III will require
close-up lens, a reflector/diffuser kit, and electronic
flash. |
